Calculate Residual from Regional

Use the Isostatic > Calculate Residual from Regional menu option (ISORES GX) to calculate the isostatic residual by subtracting an isostatic regional grid from a Bouguer gravity anomaly grid.

Compute Isostatic Residual dialog options

Isostatic regional grid (from Airyroot)

Input the isostatic regional grid calculated by the Airyroot GX (.grd file). This defaults to the output grid from the last Airyroot run.

Bouguer anomaly grid

Input the Bouguer anomaly grid (.grd).

Output isostatic residual grid

Specify the output isostatic residual grid (.grd).

Application Notes

This GX subtracts an isostatic regional grid from a Bouguer gravity anomaly grid to create an isostatic residual. If necessary, it changes the grid cell size of the regional grid to match the cell size of the Bouguer grid and "masks" the boundaries of the regional grid to match the boundaries of the Bouguer grid.

  • If the regional grid does not completely cover the area of the Bouguer grid, this GX will still produce a residual grid, but the non-overlapping area will be filled with dummies.
