Extract 2D Cross Section from 3D Model (GMS3CX GX)
Use the Display > Extract 2D Cross Section option to create a database from the two endpoints of the profile. This database contains the distance and depth to each structural horizon in the current GM-SYS 3D model. From this database, a profile plot map is generated showing the cross section of the model with the depth horizons (GMS3CXPLOT.GX). Next, a coloured anomaly-section grid, coloured by the user-defined anomaly colour zone file, is created from the database (GMS3CXGRID.GX), which is then plotted on the profile map. When the surrounds are not plotted, the profile box coordinates are not visible unless the map is shrunk or otherwise resized. The user also has the option of displaying the Observed/Calculated Gravity or Magnetics anomaly traces in another cross section box above the density/susceptibility cross section. An option to plot a horizontal colour bar above the section/sections is also provided.Creates a cross section map with a coloured anomaly grid from a map profile defined on a current GM-SYS 3D model map.
Extract 2D Cross Section from 3D Model dialog options
Anomaly type |
Gravity or Magnetics. Default value on initial run is "Gravity". Subsequent runs use anomaly type from the previous run of gms3cx. |
New profile name |
Default value on initial run is "Line_1". Subsequent runs use name from the previous run of gms3cx. |
Plot surrounds? |
Draw a box around the profile map. The default is "NO". |
Plot anomaly above cross section? |
Plot Observed/Calculated Anomaly curves in a separate profile box above the density/susceptibility profile map. The default is "NO". |
Plot density/ susceptibility colour bar? |
Plot horizontal density/susceptibility colour bar above the anomaly profile box or above the density/susceptibility profile map, if no anomaly profile is desired. The default is "NO". |
Method to set profile coordinates |
Either by drawing 2-point profile on the current active GM-SYS 3D model map, or by manually entering the coordinates for the two endpoints in the next dialog box. The default is "Digitise from Map". |
Anomaly grid colour zone |
Colour Zone File for colouring the anomaly grid cross section, and optionally, the horizontal anomaly colour bar. The default is "density20_27_01_70.zon". |
Plot section in 3D View |
Select to plot section in 3D View. The default is no. |
Colour method |
Colour zoning method for the cross-section grid, Histogram equalization (new default), Normal distribution, linear, default,or as last displayed. |
Profile Coordinates Options
1st point X |
Default value is from the previous run of gms3cx. |

Default value is from the previous run of gms3cx. |
2nd point X |
Default value is from the previous run of gms3cx. |
Y |
Default value is from the previous run of gms3cx. |
