Transform from Magnetic Pole (TRFP)
Use the Transform from Magnetic Pole option to apply the transform from magnetic pole filter.
Transform from Magnetic Pole dialog options
Inclination |
Geomagnetic inclination I in degrees from the horizon. |
Declination |
Geomagnetic declination Din degrees azimuth. |
Amplitude correction inclination |
Amplitude correction inclination Ia in degrees. Default is +20.0 in the northern hemisphere and –20.0 in the southern hemisphere. |
Application Notes
This filter is the mathematical opposite of the Reduction to the Pole filter. The Amplitude correction, although not necessary, has been kept to ensure exact recovery of the original grid. See the RTP filter for further details. This is a great educational tool to observe what given features would look like at different inclination/declinations.
Reduction to Magnetic Pole Filter
Where:
I |
Geomagnetic inclination in ° |
D |
Geomagnetic declination in ° azimuth |
Ia |
inclination for amplitude correction (never less than I) Default is ± 20 degrees. If |Ia| is specified to be less than |I|, it is set to I. |
Wavenumber domain variable definition
k |
Wavenumber domain increment, used to depict a radially symmetrical variable. |
where: np is the number of points cs is the cell size |
u |
X component in the wavenumber domain. | k = 2π ( i μ+j ν ) |
v |
Y component in the wavenumber domain. |
|
r |
Radial component in the wavenumber domain. |
also 2πk |
θ |
Polar component in the wavenumber domain. |
