Export Geosurface to Leapfrog Model File
Use the Geosurface > Export > Leapfrog Model File menu option (geogxnet.dll(Geosoft.GX.ExportLeapfrogModel;Run)*) to export a Geosurface file to a Leapfrog Model file (*.lfm) that can be opened directly in Leapfrog applications.
The option is also available from:
- The Oasis montaj 3D View > Geosurface > Utilities menu
- The 3D Viewer Geosurface > Geosurface Properties menu
Export Geosurface to Leapfrog Model File dialog options
Input geosurface |
Select a Geosurface file to export. Script Parameter: EXPORTLMF.INPUT_SURFACE |
Output Leapfrog Model name |
The Leapfrog Model file name will be auto-populated with the same name as the input Geosurface file. Script Parameter: EXPORTLMF.OUTPUT_MODEL |
Application Notes
Geological models or isosurfaces created in Geosoft 3D Views can be exported to Leapfrog Model files (*.lfm). Leapfrog Model files can store a collection of meshes (e.g. wireframe surfaces) and interpolants (results similar to Geosoft isosurfaces) and these files can be easily opened directly in Leapfrog Geo. A Geosurface with many sub-surfaces will create a Leapfrog Model file with one mesh for each sub-surface.
Colours for the geosurfaces are stored in the Leapfrog Model file and should be retained on import, but transparency and mesh render mode ( Fill, Edges, Fill with edges, and Smoothing) are not stored. These can be edited after import in Leapfrog.
No coordinate system information (datum, projected coordinate system, UTM zone etc) is stored in Leapfrog Model files, so the user must be aware that the coordinate system that was assigned to the exported geosurface file will be the implied coordinate system of the output LFM file.
*The GX tool will search in the "...\Geosoft\Desktop Applications \gx" folder. The GX.Net tools, however, are embedded in the geogxnet.dll located in the "...\Geosoft\Desktop Applications \bin" folder. If running this GX interactively, bypassing the menu, first change the folder to point to the "bin" folder, then supply the GX.Net tool in the specified format.
