Map Units
The units used for coordinates are ground units if an object is referred to reference point 0 (or reference point 11 if it is located relative to point 0). Objects referred to one of the map reference points (1 through 10) use map units, which by default are centimetres. Text sizing and line pitch are always in map units.
The UNIT command defines a multiplying factor that is applied to all map distance units to produce map centimetres. You can use the UNIT command to change the working map units to something more convenient. For example, UNIT 0.1 changes the map units to millimetres, and UNIT 2.54 changes the map units to inches.
