ArcView TIFF file
Anything displayed in a map window can be exported to a located ArcView TIFF file using the Map export tool. A TIFF file is a "picture" that contains colour pixels. An ArcView TIFF (*.tif) file has a companion world coordinate file named *.tifw. This file contains registration information that is used by ArcView to locate an image in an ArcView theme.
Similarly, when reading ArcView TIFF files (or any other image file format), the Geosoft image DAT will look for a world file and use that file to locate the image on a map.
