Import 3D AutoCAD DXF File(s)
Use the Imports > AutoCAD DXF File(s) option (geogxnet.dll(Geosoft.GX.Map.ImportDXF3D;Run)*) from the 3D Viewer > Add to 3D menu to import a DXF file into a Geosoft surface (geosurface) file.
A new geosurface file can be created, or the DXF can be appended to an existing geosurface file. The geosurface file is added to the current project (Project Explorer > Geosurfaces) and to the current 3D View.
Import AutoCAD DXF File(s) dialog options
DXF file(s) |
Select the DXF file to be imported. Multiple DXF files may be imported at once. Script Parameter: IMPORTDXF3D.DXF (Separate files with the "|" character). |
Import into geosurface file |
Leave this option unchecked if you want to import the DXF file(s) into the current 3D View as individual 3D objects. Script Parameter: IMPORTDXF3D.IMPORT_INTO_GEOSURFACE (0: No, 1: Yes (default)) |
Geosurface file |
Specify the name of the geosurface file (*.geosoft_surface) to import the DXF file(s) into. Automatically pre-populated with the same file name as the input file. Script Parameter: IMPORTDXF3D.SURFACEFILE |
Import file |
The output will be saved to a new or existing geosurface file. The new or existing geosurface will be displayed in the 3D View. Script Parameter: IMPORTDXF3D.GEOSURFACE_EXISTING (0: Create new (default), 1: Append) |
AutoCAD DXF Coordinate System
Coordinate system |
The Coordinate System dialog allows you to specify the correct coordinate system information for the incoming DXF file. Use the drop-downs to define a coordinate system for the DXF file. The DXF coordinates will be re-projected from this coordinate system to the 3D View coordinate system if necessary. If multiple DXF files are selected, the specified coordinate system will be applied to all files. Script Parameters: IMPORTDXF3D.IPJ_NAME (can be an EPSG coordinate system name) IMPORTDXF3D.IPJ_DATUM IMPORTDXF3D.IPJ_METHOD IMPORTDXF3D.IPJ_UNITS IMPORTDXF3D.IPJ_LOCALDATUM |
Application Notes
*The GX tool will search in the "...\Geosoft\Desktop Applications \gx" folder. The GX.Net tools, however, are embedded in the geogxnet.dll located in the "...\Geosoft\Desktop Applications \bin" folder. If running this GX interactively, bypassing the menu, first change the folder to point to the "bin" folder, then supply the GX.Net tool in the specified format.
3D DXF Files Import
The 3D DXF import supports several 3D DXF entities, including 3DFACE, SOLID, TRACE, POINT, POLYLINE and TEXT. 3D ARC and ELLIPSE are not supported.
These entities may not appear when imported to a geosurface. Geosurfaces only support polygons, so only polygon and 3DFACE entities are converted.
The colours specified in the DXF file will be used in the display. These can be edited in the Attributes tab.
