Export to GDB
Use the Export "map group name" to GDB dialog to produce a GDB containing the coordinates of the selected map group.
Export "map_group_name" to GDB dialog options
Database name |
The name of a new or an existing database in which to save the line groups. The database name default to the map base_name. |
Application Notes
The Export to GDB option is found in the context menu of map groups. The applicable groups are line path, symbols, contours and polygons. Other more complex entities such as logos simply do not have this option.
The database acquires the projection of the map, should the latter have one.
The selected group is saved under multiple GDB groups named after the map group and incremented at line breaks.
-
Lines: Each line segment in a line path group gets its own line.
-
Symbols: Symbols all plot to a single line. Colour lines retain the original value; proportional size and colour range symbols do not.
-
Contour: Each contour value gets its own line, with the line name containing the contour value. Individual lines and polylines are separated by a dummy row.
Many of the map group types may use the same base name; as a result, if using the same database to save different groups, the output database group names may conflict. Note that in this eventuality, pre-existing line/groups in the database sharing the same name will get silently overwritten.
