Save and Open Grid as Map

The Open in New Map dialog can be launched from the Grid Viewer toolbar button , when a grid is the current window. Use this dialog to save the current grid to a new map and to set a map scale for that map. The grid window will be closed after successfully saving the grid and creating the new map.

Open in New Map dialog options

New map name	Specify the name of the map.
Map scale	Enter the desired map scale or leave the default calculated value. See the Application Notes below for more information on map scale.

Application Notes

A map scale is required to determine appropriate scaling for drawing text, patterned lines, and other map graphic details. The displayed default scale has been chosen to fit the map to an area approximately 30x30 cm when plotted. If you wish to round the scale off, choosing a scale value larger than the default will ensure the map fits on the paper.
