Export Pseudo-Sections to Geosoft IPRED Format File

Use the IP & Resistivity > Export > Geosoft IPRED Format option (IPEXPIPRED GX) to export pseudo-sections created from the current database to Geosoft IPRED format files.

Export Pseudo-Sections to Geosoft IPRED Format dialog options

Export

Select which lines to export. The options are the currently displayed line, the selected lines (the default) and all the lines.

Script Parameter: IP.LINES - "A" : All lines, "S" : Selected lines (default), "D" : Displayed line

Title

Title to appear as the first line in the IPRED file

Script Parameter: IP.IPREDTITLE

Channel

Select a channel to export as a pseudo-section. Although some pre-selection is done when creating the channel list (removing X, Y, Z, etc.) it is up to the discretion of the user to select a "reasonable" variable for the pseudo-section.

Script Parameter: IP.CHAN

Filename suffix (type)

The output file names have the format "LINE.SUFFIX". The file name suffix is typically two or three letters. Suggestions include "mf","res","ip0" etc.

Script Parameter: IP.SUFFIX

Filter Type

The Fraser Filter to apply:

1: Regular Pant-leg (default)

2: Pant-leg, single point at top

3: Regular Pyramid

4: Pyramid, single point at top

Script Parameter: IP.FILTER – A value from 1 to 4 from the above list.

Filter Weights

A list in the format w1,w2,w3... of filter weights to apply to each N expansion starting with n=1. Weights must be separated with spaces or commas. Weights for separations greater than the N for the last specified weight are set to 1.0. If left blank, all weights are set to 1.0

Script Parameter: IP.WEIGHTS – A list in the above format.

First station position

Last station position

Positions for the first and last station. If the first station is left blank, the minimum will be used; if the last station is left blank, the maximum will be used. If both are left blank, the entire range is used. By default, these are left blank, and all are used.

Note: The output station values are always integral multiples of the spacing; if the input station positions are not themselves integral multiples, the output positions will lie within the specified range.

Script Parameter: IP.STN1, IP.STN2

Maximum n spacing

The maximum array expansion factor to include in the pseudo-section. The default is 8 (but it may be larger).

Script Parameter: IP.MAXN

Application Notes

The IPEXPIPRED GX is used to export one or more lines from the current database to individual Geosoft IPRED format files. The file names are created from the line numbers and the extension appropriate to the chosen data type (specified by the user). One file is created for each line. Care should be taken as previously created files in the working directory with the same names will be overwritten.

The IPRED format was introduced for the DOS IP system, and was produced by running the IPRED programme on IPDATA files.
