Adding Tie Lines
Tie lines, or control lines, can be added to any wireframe in order to more accurately control the final shape of the wireframe bodies. Tie lines can only be created between vertices on adjacent section interpretations. You can create multiple tie lines per body or segment.
To add a new tie line to a wireframe body:
-
After creating a wireframe body, the Tie Line Mode button becomes enabled. From the Wireframing Tools, click Tie Line Mode.
-
All the vertices in the active feature will be highlighted (the highlight colour depends on the feature colour and is chosen to be contrasting.
-
Click a vertex where you would like to start a line; the highlighted vertices will change to show only those on the adjacent sections.
-
Click a vertex on the adjacent section; a line segment will connect the two vertices you have selected.
-
Continue clicking on vertices to extend the tie line in either direction, or click on Add New Tie Line to begin a new line.
-
If you reach the end of a line, where all sections within the feature have been connected by one line, you will be able to immediately begin a new line. All the vertices in the feature will again be highlighted for selection.
Notes:
-
Only vertices that were drawn /digitized in the original interpretations can be selected to form tie-lines. You can’t click “in between points” on the interpretation.
-
Only adjacent sections /interpretations can be connected. You can’t create a tie line that skips a section.
-
A single vertex can only participate in one tie-line. Tie-lines can’t cross, intersect or come together to form an “X” or a “V” shape.
