Geosurface - View and Modify Attributes

Use the Attributes tab to view and modify the properties of the geosurface in your 3D View or Geosurface Viewer. For more information on clipping, refer to the Modify 3D Clipping topic.

To specify the transparency of the geosurface:

The transparency of geosurfaces can be adjusted interactively by moving the slider on the Transparency bar.

  1. To interactively modify the transparency level, using your cursor, move the slider on the Transparency bar. To increase the transparency, slide the bar to the right and to decrease the transparency slide the bar to the left.
With the geosurface (top level or parent node) selected in the 3D Objects tree, adjusting the transparency will affect all the surfaces in the geosurface. Alternatively, you can select an individual surface to adjust only its transparency.

To select Fill, Edges, Fill with edges, or Smoothing display:

The, Fill, Edges and Fill with edges radio buttons are used to toggle between the three display options. The Smoothing check box enables you to apply smoothing to any of your selections. With the geosurface (top level or parent node) selected in the 3D Objects tree, the option you select will affect all the surfaces in the geosurface. Alternatively, you can select an individual surface (child node) to adjust only its display.

  1. Select the Fill radio button (../geohelp/image/radio.png) to display the geosurface with a colour fill.

  2. Select the Edges radio button (../geohelp/image/radio.png) to display the geosurface edges.

  3. Select the Fill with edges radio button (../geohelp/image/radio.png) to display the geosurface with both a colour fill and edges.

  4. Select the Smoothing check box to display the geosurface with a smooth colour fill.

To access the Colour Tool:

The Colour box enables you to specify the colour of the Isosurface.

  1. Click inside the Background box to display the Colour dialog. Using this tool, you can select a colour from the Basic colours table or by clicking the Define Custom Colours>> button you can specify a custom colour.

  2. Click the OK button to apply the colour to the selected Isosurface.

To determine the name of the source file:

Open the Geosurface Properties dialog. Note that two different versions of the dialog will appear depending on whether you have selected the Parent (File level) or the Child (Isosurface level).

To determine the name of the source feature:

Open the Geosurface Properties dialog.

To determine the surface type:

Open the Geosurface Properties dialog.

To see the total surface area or the total surface volume of a surface:

Open the Geosurface Properties dialog.

To view or modify the coordinate system:

Open the Geosurface Properties dialog.
