ArcView TIFF file
Anything displayed in a map window can be exported to a located ArcView TIFF file using the Map export tool. A TIFF file is a "picture" that contains colour pixels. An ArcView TIFF file (*.tif) has a companion world coordinate file with the extension *.tifw. This file contains registration/georeferencing information that allows ArcView to locate an image in an ArcView theme and accurately place the image in the correct spatial location on a map.
Similarly, when reading ArcView TIFF files (or any other image file format), the Geosoft image DAT will look for a world file and use that file to locate the image on a map.
