Portable Network Graphics (PNG)

A PNG (Portable Network Graphics) file is a device-independent raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression. This means that the image quality is not compromised when the file is compressed. The PNG file was developed as an improvement to the GIF format and supports 24-bit and 32-bit colour palettes. A PNG file contains a single two-dimensional image.
