Application Notes
You can select multiple input bathymetry files. Each file is imported as a database line. The line name is set to the input file name.
If a current database does not exist, you are prompted to create one first. The default settings of Create a database should be adequate.
The P1-90 format is very comprehensive, allowing for a multitude of data types. A metafile format description can be found in the SEG technical standard document:
This tool extracts only the bathymetry data.
Additional channels computed on the fly:
- The header of the P1/90 files contains the projection information. Once the data is imported the projected X & Y are computed from the Latitude and Longitude and saved in the database.
- The Projection information and Units found in the header are assigned to the output database.
- The Header Survey date is combined with the Julian day to generate the Date channel.
- The date and time are combined to generate a single channel, named DateTime. This channel can be used as a unique ID channel throughout the survey.
- The bathymetry data in the P1-90 files is positive down. It is multiplied it by -1 to make the axis positive up, and saved as the Elevation channel.
*The GX.NET tools are embedded in the geogxnet.dll file located in the \Geosoft\Desktop Applications\bin folder. To run this GX interactively (outside the menu), first navigate to the bin directory and provide the GX.NET tool in the specified format. See the Run GX topic for more guidance.
