ArcGIS TIFF file
Anything displayed in a map window can be exported as a georeferenced ArcGIS TIFF file using the Map Export tool. An ArcGIS TIFF (*.tif) is a raster image format that stores pixel-based data and is widely used in GIS applications for geospatial data. It is essentially a standard TIFF file enhanced with georeferencing information, allowing GIS software to place the image in the correct spatial context on a map.
Coordinates and projection information are either embedded directly in the file (via GeoTIFF tags) or stored separately in a companion world file *.tfw, which contains registration and georeferencing data.
In ArcGIS, exporting to TIFF is a common method for sharing maps or raster datasets while maintaining spatial accuracy. Similarly, when reading an ArcGIS TIFF file into Oasis montaj, the Geosoft Image DAT will look for a corresponding world file to accurately position the image on a map.
