2D Filtering
The 2D Filtering extension provides access to a library of 2D FFT filters, allowing you to apply common Fourier domain filters to gridded data in Oasis montaj. You can efficiently process and enhance gridded datasets using a wide range of geophysical and mathematical filters.
Key capabilities include:
-
Defining custom filters
-
Modifying filter-specific parameters
-
Applying up to six filters simultaneously in a single operation
The extension also includes an Interactive Spectrum Filter, a dynamic visual tool that allows you to preview filtered grids in real time. This tool features an interactive slider for adjusting filter parameters and instantly visualizing the results. It enables you to evaluate how each filter enhances specific features before applying it to the entire grid.

This structure ensures that your working environment is saved and can be easily restored.
To begin working with an extension, open a new project and then load the corresponding menus.
-
On the Project menu, click New. The New Project dialog opens.
Alternatively, select Create new project from the startup dialog when you launch Oasis montaj. -
In the New Project dialog, specify the name and location for your project file (*.gpf), then click Save.
-
The new project opens, enabling the main menus, toolbar icons, and the Project Explorer. These visual indicators confirm that the system is ready for use.
Load the Menus
-
On the Project menu, select Manage Menus, or click the Manage Menus icon on the Project Explorer toolbar. The Manage Menus dialog opens.
-
In Base Menus, expand the Processing node, select 2D Filtering under Filtering Tools, and click OK. The related menus will now appear on the main menu bar.
The menu system is designed to provide quick access to a variety of tools and guide you through the primary processing and filtering workflows.
To automatically load these menus in future projects, specify them in the Default menus field of the General Settings dialog.
Accessing Help
Once the 2D Filtering menus are loaded, click the Help button in any dialog opened from these menu items:
-
The reference topic for the current dialog will be displayed.
-
Use the Help Topics tab to navigate to other topics of interest.
