Manage Geosoft Portal Connections

Summary

ArcGIS Pro can connect to Geosoft Geoscience Data (DAP) portals. The Geosoft Portals dialog, which is accessed from the Project tab on the ribbon, provides tools to add, edit and remove portal connections, and to set an active portal and test portals availability. Connections can be added, set to active, removed, and edited from the Geosoft Portals dialog in ArcGIS Pro.

All valid portal connections can be accessed in the 'Find Geoscience Data' browser, which is launched when you click Find Geoscience Data in the Add to Map section of the Target tab. Changing the Current portal selection (in the Find Geoscience Data browser) will allow you to connect to either the Geosoft's Public DAP Server or to a privately hosted server and launch its corresponding portal. The data hosted on the server will then be available for search, view and download.

Add a Portal Connection

To add a new portal connection, click the Add Portal button, and in the Add Geosoft Portal dialog specify the URL of your Geosoft portal. Click OK and the new portal address will be added to the list of existing Geosoft portals.

Set as Active Portal

The default portal, when you click Find Geoscience Data in the Add to Map section of the Target tab, is the Geosoft's Public DAP Portal (https://public.dap.seequent.com/gdp). To connect to a different portal by default, simply right click Set as Active Portal on the corresponding Geosoft Portals entry.

Edit Portal Connection

If the URL address of a portal you added needs to be updated, select the Geosoft Portals entry and right click Edit Portal Connection. In the Add Geosoft Portal dialog specify the new server URL of your portal. Click OK and the updated URL will be reflected in the Geosoft Portals list.

Test the Portal Connection

Test the portal/ server connectivity by right clicking Test Availability on the Geosoft Portals entry. Note that the availability is automatically tested every time a portal connection is added or updated and every time the Geosoft Portals dialog is opened.
An unsuccessful connection to a server that is not available will automatically load the Geosoft's Public DAP Portal (https://public.dap.seequent.com) in the 'Find Geoscience Data' browser.
