Find Geoscience Data

Summary

The Geoscience Data Service is a web portal that allows you to connect to the Geosoft Public DAP Server, https://dap.geosoft.com/gdp, to search for global geoscience datasets by keyword or location. Geoscience Data Service provides access to geoscience data that is hosted on the Geosoft Public DAP Server. This service is also available through MyGeosoft or by using Seeker in your Geosoft Desktop applications.

Usage

If you have an active map or scene in Target for ArcGIS Pro, when you click Find Geoscience Data in the Add to Map section of the Target tab:

Using the Geoscience Data Service involves three steps:

  1. Define your search area. Note that if you have a map, or scene, opened in Target for ArcGIS Pro, the extents of the current view will be transferred to the Geoscience Data Service portal.

  2. Review and select data layers from the results. Use the Data Layers tool to browse the available datasets. Selected data sets are shown immediately in the map view, and will be downloaded if you choose to.

  3. Download a zipped data package, a GeoTIFF, or create a shareable link to send to colleagues. Downloading a data package will automatically open the Import Data Package tool in Target for ArcGIS Pro; supported datasets can then be imported into your current project and displayed to the current map or scene. See Import Data Package for more details.
