File
The File ribbon includes the save and load options for projects and files as well as the preferences.
To get a quick overview of the 3D Viewer to get started, go to 3D Viewer Overview.
To see the mouse button options and shortcuts used to navigate the 3D view, go to Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Save Project - Save the current project.
- Preferences - Change the user preferences.
- Maximum side length for images can be changed. The default is 2000 pixels. Images larger than the given value will be down sampled to limit memory usage. When draping images on grids, it is important to know that there also is a maximum side length for grids. Grids larger than 1000 cells will be down sampled. When draping images on grids, the resolution of the image is limited by the resolution of the grid in the area covered by the image. This can cause the image resolution to be down sampled. To get the best possible resolution in the images, it can be relevant to use grids largely limited to the area covered by the image.
- Image resolution for screen capture can be set. The default is 150 dpi.
- Load File - Browse for a file to load into the current project. The supported files can be found in the dropdown.
- VTK
- VTKx
- Tiff
- XYZ
- Grd
- Dat

For XYZ files a Column Mapper Editor will open that allows the different columns to be mapped to different fields. When working with Aarhus Workbench it will often be easier to use Add Layer or Add GIS Map from the 3D ribbon in Aarhus Workbench.
Supported file formats:
- Save File - Save the last selected node in the project as a VTK or VTKX file.
- Have value 0 when the conservative DOI is below the cell or within the cell.
- Have value 1 when the conservative DOI is above the cell and the standard DOI is below or within the cell.
- Have value 2 when the standard DOI is above the cell.
- Help - Go to 3D viewer help page.
Note that when working with 3D grids made in Workbench the DOI information internally is held in 2 separate 2D surfer grids rather than the 3D grid itself, but when such a 3D grid is exported the DOI information will be made part of the VTK file as an extra parameter for each layer parameter. This extra parameter will:
If the cells are large, or the two DOI values are close to each other, multiple expressions can be true. The evaluation is done from the top, so if the first expression is true, the value will be set to 0 without evaluation of the remaining expressions.
