Workspace permissions

Users can be assigned to a workspace at three different permission levels:

  • Workspace Viewers can view and search all data in the workspace.
  • Workspace Editors can edit data and add data to the workspace. A workspace editor can also share the workspace by adding instance members, although they cannot assign permissions higher than their own.
  • Workspace Owners can edit data and add data to the workspace, and can share the workspace. Workspace owners can also delete the workspace. By default, the user who creates a workspace is assigned as a workspace owner. A workspace can have multiple workspace owners, if required.

Workspace owners and editors can manage that workspace’s users. There are, however, limitations for those with editor permissions:

  • Workspace editors can add existing users to the workspace and give them editor or viewer access. Editors cannot give users owner access.
  • Workspace editors can only remove users who have editor or viewer access. Editors cannot remove owners.
  • Workspace editors can change the permissions for other users with editor access and for viewers.

Workspace viewers can only view the list of users assigned to it and remove themselves from it.

Only Evo admins can add new members to your instance.

The following table summarises what functionality each level of workspace permissions gives a user for that workspace.
