Gravity Units of Measure, In Brief

By default, GM-SYS Profile Modelling uses the Gaussian (cgs) system of units for gravity terminology (gravitational acceleration and density). You can change the display to the International System (Le Système International d'Unités or SI) units by selecting the appropriate option in the Display menu.

The cgs unit of acceleration is cm/s2, often referred to as the Gal (short for "Galileo"), where 1 Gal = 1 cm/s2. The geophysical literature commonly reports gravitational attraction in units of mGal (1 mGal = 103 Gal). The SI unit of acceleration is m/s2.
