Clone an Existing GM-SYS Model
Run the GMSCLONE GX to copy the structure of an existing model into a new model at a new location. The GX extracts observed gravity and/or magnetic observations and locations from the grids specified. New topography is not extracted and added to the model. You may elect to open the model in GM-SYS Profile Modelling.
Clone an Existing GM-SYS Model dialog options
Existing model name |
The name of the GM-SYS Profile Modelling model to copy. Valid .SUR and .BLK files for this model must exist. This model will not be changed. |
New model name |
The name of the new GM-SYS Profile Modelling model to be created. |
Magnetic grid |
Total magnetic field grid (nT). |
Magnetic elevation grid |
Magnetic field observation elevation grid. (Must be in the "Vertical Distance units" specified below). |
OR |
Constant magnetic observation elevations; only used if no grid is specified for the magnetic elevations. Either Bouguer or free-air anomaly grid (mGal). |
Gravity grid |
Either Bouguer or free-air anomaly grid (mGal). |
Gravity elevation grid |
Gravity observation elevation grid (+ up). (Must be in the "Vertical Distance units" specified below). |
OR |
Constant gravity observation elevation; only used if no grid is specified for the gravity observation elevations. Defaults to Observation Elevation from current 3D model. |
Minimum X (Model coords.) |
The point at which the initial data value is extracted. (Must be in the "Horizontal Distance units" specified below). |
Sample interval |
Spacing between extracted points. (Must be in the "Horizontal Distance units" specified below). |
Number of points in profile |
The number of points to extract in the model profile. |
Vertical distance units |
Choose the vertical distance units from the list. All depths and elevations must be expressed in this unit. |
Horizontal distance units |
Choose the horizontal distance units from the list. The "Minimum X" and "Sample Interval" (see above) must be expressed in this unit. |
Method to set profile coordinates |
Choose from the list: "digitise from current map", "input origin, azimuth", or "input (x,y)’s". Digitise from current map enables you to interactively click on the starting point and a second point along the profile to define the profile location. Input (x,y)’s enables you to enter in the two points by hand in a dialog. Input origin, azimuth enables you to enter the starting point and direction (relative to North) by hand in a dialog. |
Inherit models' magnetic parameters |
Display the magnetic properties (susceptibility and/or remnant (magnetization) for each block in the Cross Section panels. |
Profile Coordinates Options
1st point X |
X-coordinate in real-world coordinates of new model origin (X = 0 in model coordinates). |
1st point Y |
Y-coordinate in real-world coordinates of new model origin (X = 0 in model coordinates). |
2nd point X |
X-coordinate in real-world coordinates of a second point in the +X direction of the new model. |
2nd point Y |
Y-coordinate in real-world coordinates of a second point in the +X direction of the new model. |
Origin/Azimuth Options
New profile origin X |
X-coordinate in real-world coordinates of new model origin (X = 0 in model coordinates). |
New profile origin Y |
Y-coordinate in real-world coordinates of new model origin (X = 0 in model coordinates). |
Azimuth |
New profile azimuth relative to North. |
Application Notes
When two points are entered (either by hand or interactively) to specify the location of the new model, the second point does not imply stretching or compressing the new model. The second point is only used to calculate the profile azimuth. X, Y coordinates entered by hand are always in the "real-world" coordinates of the projection stored in the .ECS file of the model being copied, not the horizontal distance units specified above. If no projection is specified in the .ECS file, the first projection encountered in the magnetic or gravity grids is assumed.
This GX calls GMSANOM to extract the gravity and magnetic profiles.
