Forward Calculation Settings

Select the Forward Calculation Settings option in the Calculate menu to set or adjust the parameters that affect the forward calculation results and speed.

Forward Calculation Settings dialog options

Number of Taylor Terms - gravity

This is the number of Taylor series terms computed when calculating the gravity response. This must be an odd number, from 1 to 15 inclusive. The default number of terms is 5.

Number of Taylor Terms - magnetic

This is the number of Taylor series terms computed when calculating the magnetic response. This must be an odd number, from 1 to 15, inclusive. The default number of terms is 5.

FFT expansion percentage

Grids will be expanded by at least this percentage of their original size in preparation for FFT. The default is 50%.

Expansion shape

Select the form of grid expansion. (Default - Rectangular)

Options are:

  • Square
  • Rectangular

Don't show this dialog before forward calculation

The Forward Calculation Settings dialog may be triggered during inversions, as the forward calculation is used as part of the inversion processes (see the links below). Check this option to not show this dialog when a calculation is run.
