Add Gravity Profile from a Database Line
Use the Add Gravity Data from Database dialog to add a new profile of gravity observations to your model by extracting from a specified line in a Geosoft Database. Specify the existing database file containing your observed data profile. The current X and Y channels and the coordinate system associated with those channels will be displayed.
Selected database |
Browse to select the database containing the data to be imported. |
X channel |
The current X channel in the database (read-only). |
Y channel |
The current Y channel in the database (read-only). |
Coordinate system |
The coordinate system associated with the current X and Y channels (read-only). |
Distance units |
The distance units associated with the coordinate system. All distance channels (horizontal or vertical) in the database are assumed to use these units. |
Selected line |
Select the line in the database to import from the list. |
Elevation channel |
The channel containing the station Z-coordinate. These values are assumed to be elevations; ()i.e. positive upward) and to match the distance units specified above. |
Gravity channel |
The channel containing the observed gravity (Gz) values. Dummies are allowed in this channel, resulting in calculations being performed at this (X,Y,Z) location. |
More
Gx axis orientation |
The orientation of the positive X-axis for the gradient survey, as an azimuth. In a compass-oriented survey, the Gx axis would have an azimuth of 90 degrees. The positive Y-axis would be oriented 90 degrees counter-clockwise from this azimuth. |
Gzz channel |
The channel containing the observed values for the Gzz component of the gradient tensor. Dummies are allowed in this channel, resulting in calculations being performed at this (X,Y,Z) location. |
Gxx channel |
The channel containing the observed values for the Gxx component of the gradient tensor. Dummies are allowed in this channel, resulting in calculations being performed at this (X,Y,Z) location. |
Gyy channel |
The channel containing the observed values for the Gyy component of the gradient tensor. Dummies are allowed in this channel, resulting in calculations being performed at this (X,Y,Z) location. |
Gxy channel |
The channel containing the observed values for the Gxy component of the gradient tensor. Dummies are allowed in this channel, resulting in calculations being performed at this (X,Y,Z) location. |
Gzx channel |
The channel containing the observed values for the Gzx component of the gradient tensor. Dummies are allowed in this channel, resulting in calculations being performed at this (X,Y,Z) location. |
Gzy channel |
The channel containing the observed values for the Gzy component of the gradient tensor. Dummies are allowed in this channel, resulting in calculations being performed at this (X,Y,Z) location. |
Application Notes
The import will convert between coordinate systems if they are defined for both the model and database. If the model coordinate system is not defined, the import will fail. If the database coordinate system is undefined, it is assumed that it matches the coordinate system of the model, as in text imports.
