GRID (Draw a reference grid in plotting window)
The GRID command draws a reference grid in the currently defined plotting window. The reference grid can be drawn as solid lines, dotted lines, or as crosses at the intersections of the grid. If a cartographic projection has been defined by the PROJ command or in the MDF file, a cartographic reference grid based on lines of longitude and latitude can be drawn.
Command Syntax
Command Parameters:
gopt |
Grid drawing style. |
0 |
Does not draw the grid, rather it sets up the grid increments for later use with ALAT and ALON. |
1 |
Map coordinate reference grid as dotted lines. |
2 |
Map coordinate reference grid as crosses. |
3 |
Map coordinate reference grid as solid lines. |
-1 |
Long/lat. reference grid as dotted lines. |
-2 |
Long/lat. reference grid as crosses. |
-3 |
Long/lat. reference grid as solid lines. |
dx,dy |
Separation between grid lines in the X and Y directions. The separation must either be in world, ground, coordinates for positive gopt, or in degrees.mmss for long/lat. grids (negative gopt). The default is the same as may have been defined by previous BARV, ANOX, ANOY, ALON or ALAY commands. |
ddx,ddy |
These define the separations between dots in the X and Y directions for dotted grids, or the separation between curved line segments when drawing solid long/lat lines. The value of ddx can also be used to set the bar length of crosses (the full cross size is twice this value). The default is 5 or 10 dots between grid lines for world, ground, coordinate grids, and 8 points between grid lines for long/lat grids. |
att |
The attribute to use to draw grid lines. |
Example:
PROJ UTM17
RECT 12
GRID -2,2.3,2.3,,,grid=kt100
ALON
ALAT
This will draw a longitude-latitude grid at increments of 2'30". The grid will then be annotated along the edges using the ALON and ALAT commands.
