Save Wireframe as Geosurface
Use the Save Wireframe as Geosurface dialog opened from the Wireframing Tools to save the current wireframing progress to a geosurface file (*.Geosoft_Surface). The output geosurface will be automatically added to the current 3D view.

Select the option to be used for closing the open ends:
Polygons that have been joined into a wireframe must have closed ends to be saved as a geosurface. The Close open ends option is disabled if the wireframing session contains open surfaces as a result of wireframing polylines. |

Select one or more of the post-processing tools to run while saving the wireframe. Levels of refinement:

Save Wireframe as Geosurface
Saving the wireframing progress to a geosurface file saves a permanent copy of the wireframe so that you can:

Share the surface easily with colleagues.

Find the total volume of the surface by viewing its Properties (see Geosurface Properties).

Use the surface in equations or calculations (see Use Surfaces in Voxel Math Expressions).
Use the surface in any of the Surface Utilities tools, such as Clip, Join or Intersect Closed Surfaces (see Join, Clip or Intersect Closed Surfaces).

Convert or export the surface to another 3D mesh format such as 3D DXF or Leapfrog LFM file.
Output Geosurface File
The output geosurface file will have a number of items pre-defined based on the geostring file that was used for wireframing:

The default output geosurface file name will be the same as the geostring file name that was used for wireframing. You may modify this name.

The coordinate system for the geosurface is automatically set based on the coordinate system of the geostring file.

The surface names in the output geosurface are set based on the feature names from the geostring used in the wireframing session. When you save the wireframing progress for feature named "Basalt", you will get a surface object named "Basalt" in the output geosurface file.

After saving the wireframe of the active feature, you can continue to add wireframes for different features to the same geosurface file, as long as they all originated from the same geostring file.
Creation of Ends for Wireframe Bodies

The creation of rounded ends uses the tangent of the wireframe surface at the edges to calculate a smooth curve that will close on the other side at the same tangent. This was chosen to obtain natural looking ends for most bodies.

If the resolution of the surface is low (large triangles) and the edges very sharp, the ends may be created as flat (or contain flat regions) due to this.
Surface Refinement:

Choosing to refine the output surface will equalize the size and shape of the triangles in the output surface mesh while preserving both the exact locations of the vertices on the input geostring interpretations and the locations of the tie lines. In the case of bifurcating bodies (one body that splits into two), the polylines at the intersection of merged bodies will also be preserved.

High resolution refinement will result in smaller triangles and will take longer. Low refinement will give larger triangles and be quicker. Choosing not to refine the output surface will create a mesh that uses more isosceles triangles, but is the quickest.
