Define Map Windows

Oasis montaj enables you to select a subset of the data (window) in a database and then plot this data in a rectangular area on a map. There are three steps to windowing:

1. Define a rectangular Map window. The system creates an ASCII Polygon Mask (*.PLY) file with the coordinates.

2. Apply the window to the database. When you apply the window, the system copies all of your original coordinate data to channels denoted by "_ X" and "_ Y", and then clips the current X and Y channels to the limits you defined in your Map window.

3. Restore the original channels (i.e., unclip your database). The system copies the information in the "_ X" and "_ Y" channels back to the "X" and "Y" channels.
