Import a Database Table

  1. On the Database menu, select Import > Database Table: you can then select one of the two options, Single Table or All Tables.

  2. If you have an open database, the system will ask you whether to import to the current database or create a new one. Select either Yes or No to continue.

  3. If you do not have a database open, or you do not want to import into the current database and you selected No, the New Database dialog will be displayed.

  1. The system displays a dialog prompting you for a database file name. Specify a new database name and the number of lines and channels in the database. Click OK.

  2. If the database is not a Microsoft Access database (with a .mdb file type), the Select External Database dialog box will appear. Select a database format from the list:

    Microsoft Access

    dBASE III

    dBASE IV

    dBASE 5

    FoxPro 2.0

    FoxPro 2.5

    FoxPro 2.6

    Paradox 3.x

    Paradox 4.x

    Paradox 5.x

  1. Next, the Field Selection dialog is displayed. This dialog enables you to choose a table, then one or more fields in the selected table. Available fields are displayed in the left-hand Database Fields window, while those fields selected for import are listed in the right-hand Selected Fields window.

  2. To select a field, click on it using the left mouse button, then use the Add, Add All or Remove buttons.

    • The Add button adds the selected fields (in the Database Fields window) to the list of fields in the Selected Fields window.

    • The Remove button removes the selected fields (in the Selected Fields window) from the Selected Fields list, and adds the field to the Database Fields window.

    • Multiple fields may be selected by using the Shift or Ctrl keys while pressing the left mouse button.

  1. Click the OK button.

  2. The selected fields are imported into the database. During this process, an import template, with the file name "impdb.i4" is created. This template is used for the import stage. You may edit this file using a text editor to customize the import channel name or data type.
