I4 Import Template File

The .i 4 template file contains all of the import parameters including data source type (Access, Excel, ODBC, etc.), data source location, and the type of data (Collar, Survey, From-To, Point), so these values do not need to be specified again. This template is useful to re-import data using the same settings, or to import new data with the same formatting.

The template files are automatically created and saved on your file system on Excel/Access Database imports or when any of the Drillhole import tools are run.

Drillhole data can be imported in two ways, either with or without template files:

  • If templates are provided: the data source and the type of data (Collar, Survey, From-To, Point) specified in the template files will be used to import the drillhole data. If multiple templates are specified, the import will proceed on each template in turn, with the collar table (if present) processed first.
  • If no import templates are provided: the import wizard ('Drillhole Import') will be produced to dynamically select the data source and the type of data to be imported. When the import wizard is used, template files, containing information about the source and type of data to be imported, will be created first and then used to import the data. The template name uses the import file name with the extension "i4" .
