Map Polygon Editing Toolbar

The Map window polygon-editing toolbar becomes active and displayed within the map when you open any map that has a polygon that you begin to edit.

Edit Vertices (Default Shortcut: N - Key)

Use this button to switch to or end vertex editing mode for polygons and polylines.

Add Vertices (Default Shortcut: KeyPad + )

Use this button to add a vertex while in vertex editing mode. It is also possible to hold the shortcut key down to add multiple vertices at once.

In many cases the default shortcut key is not convenient (e.g. on laptops), in which case it can be reconfigured by using the Map|Configure Shortcut Keys menu option.

The exact location dialog can be displayed to add a vertex at a specific location by using the default shortcut Enter Key while over the map.

Delete Vertices (Default Shortcut: KeyPad - )

Use this button to delete a vertex while in vertex editing mode. It is also possible to hold the shortcut key down to delete multiple vertices at a time.

Add New Rectangular Island

Use this button add a new rectangular island (inclusion region) to the current polygon.

The exact location dialog can be invoked to while digitising to place a vertex at a specific location by using the default shortcut Enter Key while over the map.

Add New Polygon Island

Use this button add a new irregular polygon island (inclusion region) to the current polygon.

Add New N-sided Polygon Island

Use this button add a new N-sided regular polygon island (inclusion region) to the current polygon. I dialog will be presented querying the user for the number of sides to generate.

Add New Rectangular Hole

Use this button add a new rectangular hole (exclusion region) to the current polygon.

Add New Polygon Hole

Use this button add a new irregular polygon hole (exclusion region) to the current polygon.

Add New N-sided Polygon Hole

Use this button add a new N-sided regular polygon hole (exclusion region) to the current polygon. I dialog will be presented querying the user for the number of sides to generate.

Cycle to Previous Hole/Island

Use this button to switch to the previous hole or island’s (inclusion and exclusion region respectively) during vertex editing.

Cycle to Next Hole/Island (Default Shortcut: W-Key)

Use this button to switch to the next hole or island’s (inclusion and exclusion region respectively) during vertex editing.

Delete Current Hole/Island (Default Shortcut: Q-Key)

Use this button to switch to the previous hole or island’s (inclusion and exclusion region respectively) during vertex editing.
