Voxel to GOCAD

Use the Voxel > Conversions > Voxel to GOCAD menu option (geogxnet.dll(Geosoft.GX.VoxUtils.ExportVoxToGocad;Run)*) to export a Geosoft Voxel to a GOCAD Voxet.

Voxel file

Select the Geosoft voxel file to export.

Script Parameter: EXPORTVOXTOGOCAD.INPUT_VOXEL

GOCAD Voxet file

Specify the name of the GOCAD Voxet file to create.

Script Parameter: EXPORTVOXTOGOCAD.GOCAD_VOXET_FILE

Orientation

Select the orientation of the Z axis of the GOCAD file:

  • ZPOSITIVE Elevation

  • ZPOSITIVE Depth

Application Notes

*The GX.NET tools are embedded in the geogxnet.dll file located in the "...\Geosoft\Desktop Applications \bin" folder. If running this GX interactively, bypassing the menu, first change the folder to point to the "bin" directory, then supply the GX.NET tool in the specified format. See the topic Run GX for more details on running a GX.NET interactively.

In GOCAD, the standard is Z-positive down (depth), whereas in Oasis montaj, the convention is Z-positive up (elevation). In the dialog, you may specify either a 'standard' or an 'inverted' orientation, where 'standard' follows the Geosoft’s convention, and 'inverted' follows GOCAD's standard, as shown in the table below:
