Edit Metadata

Use the Edit Metadata dialog to modify metadata associated with the selected file. The dialog includes a menu pane on the left and interactive tabbed panels on the right. Each metadata type can be added to the appropriate tabbed section.

General

Click the General button to view general metadata fields such as:

Dataset name, Purpose, Primary theme/Subject, Secondary theme/Category, Tertiary theme/Type, File format, Web link, Abstract

Enter information in the text fields provided or select from drop-down menus where available.

Location

Click the Location button to access location-specific metadata fields:

Continent, Country, Province/State, Region/Area.

Specify values by entering them manually or selecting from available lists.

Data

Click the Data button to view data-related fields, including:

Project name, Data source, Project type, Scale/Resolution, Data created by, Data creation date, Metadata created by, Metadata creation date, Confidentiality.

Input information using text fields or drop-down menus as applicable.

You can also use the arrow buttons in the bottom-right corner to navigate through the metadata tabs. 

Application Notes

Metadata—data about data—is captured by Oasis montaj from the moment a dataset is accessed. This metadata, based on the ISO 19115 standard, is stored either within the data itself (if supported) or as a companion .xml file.

When working with data in Oasis montaj, key details such as the username, date, time, and any actions performed are recorded as part of the metadata. If new data is created from existing sources, this information is carried over, and the complete history of operations is preserved in the Lineage section.
