Extract View Mask to PLY File

Use the Map Tools > Masking > Extract Current View Mask to PLY File option (VIEWGETCLIP GX) to export the mask polygon associated with a selected view to a PLY file (*.ply).

Extract Current View Mask to PLY File dialog options

Clip polygon file (.ply)	Specify the output PLY file that will store the extracted mask polygon. Enter a file name or browse to select a location. Script Parameter: VIEWGETCLIP.FILE
Map view	Select the view whose mask polygon will be exported. Options may include Data, Base, or other available views (for example, Section). Script Parameter: VIEWGETCLIP.VIEW

Application Notes

• This tool operates on the mask associated with the selected view, not the currently displayed map area.

• The exported polygon corresponds to the view mask, not the current zoom level or the visible area of the map window (viewport).

• The exported polygon may appear as a rectangular boundary covering the selected view, depending on the mask associated with that view.

• To better understand how masks are defined and applied, see Apply View Mask (VIEWCLIP GX).

• Exporting the current viewport extents (the visible map area) as a polygon is not supported by this tool.
