Blocks in GM-SYS Profile Modelling

In GM-SYS Profile Modelling, a block is an area of consistent physical properties and strike (Y) extent. The polygonal block boundary is composed of a group of interconnected surfaces (polylines) that completely enclose it. Blocks may be assigned a fill pattern with foreground and/or background colour for display and plotting purposes. In order for raster grids and images to be visible, the block fill must either be disabled, or else the pattern background be made "transparent" (i.e., the pattern background turned off).

If the block is 2-D, these properties extend to infinity in the +Y and -Y directions (perpendicular to the profile direction; into and out of the screen). If the block is 2¾-D, the main block is truncated at a +Y and/or -Y limit, and the block extending from this limit to infinity may be assigned physical properties that differ from the main block. You may elect to assign separate fill pattern and/or colour to the +Y and -Y blocks, which will only be visible in the Plan View.
