2D Subsample Survey

../../image/2d_subsampling.png

Window and/or Decimate the traces from the SEG-Y file to be included in your output. You may window the 2D survey by specifying the starting and ending traces to include in your output. You may resample (decimate) the survey by specifying the interval of traces to keep.

  • By default, the All radio button is selected and all samples are included.
  • The 2D survey will be windowed first, then the remaining traces will be decimated.

Windowing the survey reduces the length of the section to be exported and can change the calculated location of th grid section origin. Decimation of the traces will reduce the size of the bitmap or grid, but will not change the calculated origin.

    Example

The SEG-Y file My2D.sgy contains 6000 traces. You may limit the portion of the survey to be exported by setting the start trace to "100" and the ending trace to "500", leaving 401 traces. You may also elect to subsample the survey by keeping only every 4th trace, keeping traces 100, 104, 108, ..., leaving 101 traces. The figure at right shows the original (full) trace locations in grey, and the subsampled and windowed trace locations in black. The inset shows a close-up of the individual trace locations.
