Skewed Models

Skewed Models are a concept developed to enable the model response to be calculated along a line not perpendicular to the model strike, while not violating the requirement that the calculation stations always be on the profile section, i.e. at Y=0.

  • As of GM-SYS Profile Modelling 7.3.0, calculations are possible at any (X,Y) location, and the concept of skewed models is no longer necessary nor useful. The profile (Y=0) line is defined to always be orthogonal to the strike of the model.
  • In order to be opened in newer versions of GM-SYS Profile Modelling, a skewed model must be converted so that the Profile Azimuth (Y=0) passes through the same Origin, and is perpendicular to strike. The station locations and any well locations are adjusted in the new coordinate system so that they retain their original locations relative to the model blocks and the external coordinate system.
