Extract Blocks and Horizons to Geostring

Use the Extract Blocks and Horizons to Geostring dialog to extract block and/or horizon boundaries from the selection of active GM-SYS Profile models and write them to a geostring file. Each selected block is extracted to a closed (polygon) feature in the geostring file, and each selected horizon is extracted to an open (polyline) feature. Once the geostring file is displayed in a 3D view, the "wireframing" tools may be used to join the geostrings together into surfaces. Wireframing blocks will create closed surfaces or "bodies" and horizons will be joined to create open surfaces.

Extract Blocks and Horizons To Geostring dialog options

Output geostring name

Create or append to this geostring file.

Coordinate system

Specify the coordinate system for the geostring. By default, the projected coordinate system of the first model processed will be used.

Sampling location

Select Model Profile, Gravity Stations, or Magnetic Stations; each defines a path along which the points surrounding the blocks or along the horizons will be projected.

Block colour

Select the colour of your extracted block features.

Horizon colour

Select the colour of your extracted horizon features.

Blocks Tab

Available blocks

Select (highlight) the blocks to be extracted to the geostring file. The available list includes all unique blocks found in the Active Models in the workspace (see below).

Selected blocks

Your selected Blocks to extract are displayed here.

Add - >

Click the Add - > button to add the selected (highlighted) Available blocks to the Selected blocks window.

< - Remove

Click the < - Remove button to remove the selected (highlighted) Selected blocks back to the Available blocks window.

Horizons Tab

Available horizons

Select (highlight) the horizons to be extracted to the geostring file. The available list includes all unique horizons found in the Active Models in the workspace (see below).

Selected horizons

Your selected Horizons to extract are displayed here.

Add - >

Click the Add - > button to add the selected (highlighted) Available horizons to the Selected horizons window.

< - Remove

Click the < - Remove button to remove the selected (highlighted) Selected horizons back to the Available horizons window.

[Active Models]

Click the Active Models button, to open the Select Active Models dialog, which enables you to specify which models in your workspace are designated as "Active" and will be processed.

Application Notes

A given model may contain more than one block with the same name. When this occurs, each of the blocks will be extracted as a separate polygon to the geostring file, included in the same feature <blockname> on the model section.

Each horizon name within a model must be unique within that model.
