Body Properties
When a model body is selected in the Model Explorer, all of the properties of that body are displayed in the Properties panel. Any or all of the properties may be edited. Changes to each field are automatically applied as they are made.
Body Properties |
|
Name |
Specify a descriptive name for the body. |
Surface |
|
Type |
The data type used to describe the body. Only "Geosurface" is allowed. |
Density |
|
Type |
Select the density type, which may be provided as either: a Constant (real number), Lateral Distribution (from a grid), Vertical Distribution (if already defined for the model), or Voxel Distribution. If Constant is selected, you must enter a constant density. If Lateral Distribution is selected, select an existing lateral density grid, or specify a constant density value. If Voxel Distribution is selected, select an existing Geosoft voxel file that describes the density. If Vertical Distribution is chosen, specify the existing Density-Depth Table in the model. |
Susceptibility |
|
Type |
Select the susceptibility type, which may be provided as either: a Constant (real number), Lateral Distribution (from a grid), or Voxel Distribution. If Constant is selected, you must enter a constant susceptibility. If Lateral Distribution is selected, select an existing lateral susceptibility grid, or specify a constant susceptibility value. If Voxel Distribution is selected, select an existing Geosoft voxel file that describes the susceptibility. |
Remanence |
|
Magnitude |
Specify a constant remanent magnetization, in nT. |
Inclination |
Specify a constant value, in degrees |
Declination |
Specify a constant value, in degrees |
Application Notes
Selecting a property source type other than "constant" requires an appropriate property source, if one is not already loaded for the body. If several types have been previously loaded for this body, the active type may be changed without having to reload them.
Validation of each field or selection occurs when the focus is changed to another field. Changes will not be applied if they are invalid and the focus cannot be switched until errors are corrected. If a body is switched prior to the last change passing validation, changes may be lost.
Magnetic properties for a body may include constant susceptibility and constant remanent magnetization, or variable susceptibility and no remanent magnetization.
