Configuring Sampling in Activities

When the sampling configuration is complete, you can edit sampling at an activity level. There is also some customization that can be which can improve the sampling process. This topic will describe:

A separate topic describes how to use ranked columns to, for example, show the best or final value when there are multiple values for the same analyte. See Using Ranked Columns.

Adding Sample Types

Once you have added a sample table to your activity you can customize which sample types and reference materials the logger can choose from. This is done by selecting from the list of available fields and placing in the respective places as indicated by the activity builder.

You can click on a space to show the sample type fields available in MX Deposit to choose from. If the sample type you wish to use is not available, you can create a new sample type by going to the admin panel and select sample lists under sampling, then go to the sample type list to add a new sample type list item.

Here we have added an Original sample type and allowed the logger to log field duplicates. To do this, drag and drop the FieldDup sample type to nest it below the original sample type. This will mean the logger can only take field duplicates from an original. MX deposit then will then have the field duplicate automatically inherit the from to of the original and it also associates a parent sample number behind the scenes.

In the same way, click on the Control sample types to add your reference material, or standards and blanks.

Adding Sample Analysis Workflows

It is not required to use a sample analysis workflow. If you choose to add one, click on Primary sample analysis flows to display the workflows available to choose from. Once you have decided which workflow you will use, drag it into it's respective place in the activity builder.

Each sample analysis workflow would normally represent a different laboratory. You can have multiple primary workflows and multiple secondary workflows, although it is recommended to use just one or two.
