Output Files (3D)

Use the Output Files dialog to convert the input 3D SEG-Y file to a Geosoft voxel, slice grids, and/or database. Specify which output type(s) you wish to generate and specify the names of the output files you wish to create.

Output Files dialog options

Generate voxel

Check this box if you wish to write the volume to a Geosoft voxel.

Output voxel name

Browse to select the name and location of the output voxel file.

Generate slices

Check this box if you wish to generate one or more slice grids along the axes of the output volume. If this box is checked, you must select at least one slice to generate.

[Selection]

Click this button to open the Select Slices dialog to select one or more slices to extract from the output volume and display as grids.

The number of selected Inline (IL), Crossline (XL), and Horizontal slices are displayed to the right, once the dialog is closed.

Generate database

Check this box if you wish to write the volume to a Geosoft database file.

Output database name

Browse to select the name and location of the output database file.

Application Notes

If a Geosoft voxel is generated, it will be displayed in the current 3D View, if one is open in the workspace. Otherwise, it will be displayed in a separate voxel viewer.

If slice grids are generated, they will be displayed each in a separate grid viewer. You may add them to a 3D View individually, or you may select a group of grids to display using the same parameters.

If a database is generated, it will be displayed in the workspace. The database file will contain a channel for each trace-header field that contains non-zero data, as well as an array channel for the trace data. The sampling (Z-coordinate information) for the trace data is stored in the Array Base Properties.
