Use the Conversion between Field Components option to apply the conversion between field components filter.

Inclination

Geomagnetic inclination in degrees from the horizon I

Declination

Geomagnetic declination in degrees azimuth D

Input field component

Select the input Component from the drop-down list of "Total_Field", "X_Component", "Y_Component", or "Z_Component". The X and Y components are not recommended for input, see below.

Output field component

Select the output Component from the drop-down list of "Total_Field", "X_Component", "Y_Component", or "Z_Component".

Application Notes

The field conversion filter operator converts between magnetic field components. In theory, any one component of the magnetic field could be used to calculate any other component, but in practice the stronger and stable field components, that is the total field and the vertical component, should be used on input. The X or Y components manifest singularities along the normal to the declination azimuth thus causing directional instability.
