ArcGIS

ArcGIS is the GIS tool developed by Esri as part of the ArcGIS Desktop suite. ArcGIS stores positional information as point, line, and polygon objects in shapefiles. ArcGIS can also display gridded information from grid files (ArcGIS Binary Raster Grids) and picture information from image (ArcGIS TIFF) files. The information (metadata) associated with objects in shapefiles is stored in ArcGIS databases. When working with data in ArcGIS, data is visualized in windows defined by themes. Oasis montaj is able to import and export data from ArcGIS shapefiles in a variety of ways.
