Process Log

A log file is created with each inversion. The log file is progressively written to the VOXI Viewer lower right pane as the inversion progresses. It summarizes the stages of iteration and quality of the inversion, along with time stamps.

The definition of a successful inversion is the construction of a model with the minimum structure required to fit the data.
A typical VOXI process log file is shown below:

The log file captures:

  • the unique inversion job number

  • information on the progress of the inversion

  • the size and type of the inversion session, along with the number of processors activated to run the inversion

  • the number of iterations executed to obtain convergence of results within the indicated parameters, along with the fit factor at each iteration and the elapsed time in seconds

  • the inversion status, indicating either success or a diagnostic message

The first iteration shows the fit using the starting model. In subsequent iterations, the inversion varies the Regularization Scale in an attempt to find a normalized Data Fit of 1. If the inversion is able to find the correct Data Fit, the message highlighted in yellow will appear, or else a diagnostic message is displayed.
