Using the Text Header Tool

Use this option to view the 3200-byte text header, which may be encoded as EBCDIC or ASCII. This header may contain extra processing information, such as unusual use of trace-header fields, units or coordinate systems used, or projections.

To run the SEG-Y Binary Header Tool

  1. On the Explore menu, select Text Header. The Text Header tool opens. If it does not display correctly, close the dialog and select the other format in the SEG-Y Format Options topic.

  2. Confirm your header information.

  3. Close the Text Header window when finished. You are returned to SEG-Y.
