Oasis montaj Integration with Seequent Central

Oasis montaj integration with Seequent Central through the Seequent Connector allows you to connect to a Central server, select datasets (e.g., Geosoft grids, databases, voxels, geosurfaces, etc.) from your current Oasis montaj project and publish them to a Central Project. Subsequent revisions - to capture specific points in time for your project - can then be uploaded to the same Central project allowing for data and any further changes made to be stored in the Central cloud and to be shared between Oasis montaj and other Seequent applications.

The ability to store data in a version-controlled and centralized environment, to visualize it, and share it with other Seequent applications is of crucial importance for improving collaboration among users. You can easily and securely exchange geophysical and geological data between Oasis montaj, Central, and Leapfrog while worrying less about locally managing your data. The projects shared within Central can be downloaded and worked on locally in Leapfrog Geo and Oasis montaj; as a result, better integrated and more dynamic workflows can be developed.

Connect to a Central Server

In order to connect to a hosted Central server from the Oasis montaj application, a live internet connection must be established. The connection status icon, in the menu bar of the application frame, will indicate if you are working offline (i.e., there is no connectivity to the Seequent ID licensing server) or online .

Furthermore, your Seequent ID subscription must contain access entitlements to a Central server. If there are no Central entitlements granted, the additional connection status icon in the menu bar will not be displayed.

With the appropriate permissions granted and while you are not yet connected to a Central server, the icon status will show as (this is the default/idle state), and the icon tooltip will display the text: "Central servers available". Click on the icon, and the servers you have been given access to will be listed in a dropdown menu format. Hover over an item in the list and you will be informed about your server connection status.

A successful connection to a Central server will change the menu bar icon to , and the tooltip will display the text: "Connected to <central server name>, ready to upload data". The entry remains highlighted in the dropdown menu as long as the server connectivity is maintained.

Only one server will be connected at a given time. All other authorized servers in the list will remain disconnected.

If the icon status shows as , there is no internet connection and/or internet connectivity is disrupted, or a connection to a Central server is unavailable. Click on the icon to learn more about Seequent Central.

The servers that you have been given access will be listed in a drop-down menu format when you access the Oasis montaj Central options:

Viewing your Project in

When you are connected to a Central server, you can quickly view the data that you uploaded to a project on that server and manage your Central projects and geoscience data.

Connect via Oasis montaj

Use the Data Services > Central Portal menu option to launch the Central portal associated with the server you are connected to. In the Projects list, find the project that hosts your uploaded data and click on it to open. Then, click on the Files tab: a list of the files and folders uploaded to the project will be displayed. Select a file to view its version history; click on a version to delete it or to download a local copy.

In the Project menu, use the Local Revision Details option to display information about your Seequent Central project and its most recent published revision and to launch the Central Portal and load your project. (You will need to sign in with your Seequent ID if not already signed in to Central.)

Sign in to the Central Portal

Alternatively, in your web browser, enter the URL for your Central Portal and sign in using your Seequent ID.

Central Portal should be accessed using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Apple Safari.

Once you have signed in, the options available depend upon your assigned role:

  • If you do not have Admin rights, only two sidebar options will be available: Projects (showing only the projects you have permission to access) and Users.
  • If you are an Admin, you will have access to the Users, Integrations, Events, and Maintenance options alongside Projects, which will list all the projects on the Central server.
View Project Details

To view the details about a project, click on the project in the Projects list. An overview of the project is shown in the Overview tab along with a series of tabs that provide you with more information and control over the project:

  • The History tab: Central projects are organised into branches and revisions. The overall history of the revisions is shown in a chronological order (from the most recent down to the oldest). The 'Graph' represents the history of the project, going backward in time, with each node belonging to a branch and representing a revision. Revision notes, the project stage and publishing date information are displayed for each node.
  • The Events tab: the log displays the last 100 changes that have been made to the project.

To learn more about Central, expand the Sign in menu in the upper right-hand corner of your CENTRAL instance and click on the Need Help? button to launch the Help for the Central suite of products: use the Getting Started button to load the overview topic and help you get started with Central.

Seequent Connector - Publish Revision to Central

When publishing from Oasis montaj to Central via Seequent Connector, once you have selected your datasets, you have several options:

Server

The Central server instances you have been granted access are listed here. Select the server where you want to publish your data to.
You can connect to only one Central server at a time, and if you have previously published, the Central server will remember the Oasis montaj project.

Project

Once the connection to the selected Server instance has been established:

  1. If this is an initial publishing, the Project field is enabled and prefilled with the name of your current Oasis montaj project. Enter/update the name of the project that you want to create and upload the file(s) to.
  2. When publishing subsequent revisions to the Central server, the Project field is disabled and prefilled with the name of the project that already exists in Central, and which is connected to your current Oasis montaj project.

If you want to disconnect the Oasis montaj project from its Central project counterpart, delete the respective project from Central along with the UUID (universally unique ID) entry/entries created in the cache path. See the Application Notes below for more details.

Description

Optionally, add project details. These will be captured in the Central Portal in the Details section of the Overview tab for the respective project.

[Next]

Click Next to continue entering the project parameters (i.e., workflow stage, branch, and revision).

Branch

If this is a new project to be created in Central, the Branch field is prefilled with the name "Default". Enter the name of the branch that you want to upload the file(s) to.

When publishing subsequent revisions, the Branch field is prefilled with the name of the last branch used. You have two options at this stage:

  • Retain the name in order to publish under the existing branch.
  • Enter a new name to create and publish under a new branch.
  • The option Create new branch must be checked in this case.

Create new branch

A revision can be the basis for any number of alternate revisions, forming the start of a new branch. Select this option if you want to create a new branch to publish your subsequent revision(s) to.

Project Stage

Select from the list of available workflow stages. These are unique per Central server instance; contact your Central server administrator.

Revision Note

Optionally, add revision details. These will be captured in the Central Portal as a Note in the History tab for the respective project.

[Publish]

Click on the Publish button to close this dialog and initiate the publishing of the file(s) to the selected Central server and project.

The upload status is monitored via Seequent Connector > Notifications, and a completion message will be displayed in Oasis montaj once the data is uploaded and published to Central.

The process takes place in the background, so you will be able to carry on with your work while large projects are being uploaded to Central.

To go over your Central project and its most recent published revision details, use the Local Revision Details menu option.

For details on how to open a project in Central Portal and view its information, see the CENTRALsection below.

Seequent Connector - Open Project from Central

When either opening a project from Central or updating an existing project, you have several options:

Server

Select the Central server instance that hosts the Central project to be downloaded. The list contains all the Central server instances you have been granted access to.

Central server connections are set up via your Seequent ID.

Project

Expand the Project list and select the project to be downloaded. These are all the Central projects hosted on the selected server to which you have access.

Revision

Once a project has been selected, all the revisions published in that project will be listed in the Revision table.

Each Revision entry displays revision-specific information, including the Central project name, workflow stage and branch, the revision publisher and revision notes, and visual details and statuses in the following columns:

  • Graph: provides a visual representation of the nodes/branches within the Central project.
  • Local: once a revision has been successfully downloaded, it is labeled as . Subsequent downloads of the same revision will change the label to an incremented number to reflect the total number of local copies downloaded.
  • Locked: locked () or not locked ().
    Revisions are locked during uploading.
  • Project: unprocessed () or processed ().

Click on a table entry to select a revision to download. The Download button becomes active.
