User Roles, Application Access and Permissions
The tools available for determining what access to an Imago subscription any individual user has are:
User Roles
A user’s role determines their overall access to an Imago subscription. There are two roles:
- An Admin can set up and manage users, workspaces, data definitions and capture profiles.
- A standard User can only access the workspaces and capture profiles they have permissions for.
This is set in the Users list in the Imago Admin Portal.
Your Imago subscription can have more than one admin, but it is recommended that you limit the number of admins as they have access to all aspects of your subscription.
See the User Management topic in the Admin Reference Guide for information on adding and managing users for your Imago subscription.
Application Access
Imago users can have access to different Imago applications:
- Imago Portal. This allows a user to view imagery in the portal.
- Imago Capture/Mobile. These allow a user to capture images in Imago Capture X/Imago Mobile.
- Imago Connect. This allows user to sign in to the Imago Connect application for setting up batch operations, including scripting interoperability and import/export.
Application access is set in the Users list in the Imago Admin Portal.
See the User Management topic in the Admin Reference Guide for information on changing users’ access to Imago applications.
Workspace Permissions
There are three levels of workspace permissions:
- Owner. An Owner can edit all datasets in a workspace, can set up new datasets for the workspace, can assign other users to the workspace and create, edit and delete content in the workspace.
- Editor. An Editor can create, edit and delete content in the workspace.
- Viewer. A Viewer can only view content in the workspace; they cannot create, delete or edit content.
Workspace permissions are set in the Workspaces list on a workspace-by-workspace basis.
See Managing Workspace Users in the Admin Reference Guide for more information.
If you have an Enterprise account and so have multiple workspaces, you can also use security groups to assign users to workspaces. See Security Groups below.
Capture Profile Assignments
Capture X and Capture Mobile users need to be assigned to capture profiles before they can start capturing images using the information in those profiles.
Profile assignments are set in the Capture Profiles list on a profile-by-profile basis.
See Assigning Users to Profiles in the Admin Reference Guide for more information.
Security Groups
If you have an Imago Enterprise licence, the ability to create security groups is another tool for managing users’ access to the subscription. Instead of assigning workspaces and profiles to each user and then adding them to workspaces and profiles on an individual basis, you can define groups of users and assign them to workspaces and profiles all at once.
When you have an Enterprise licence, there will be a Groups tab in the Users window. In this window, you can create security groups and add existing users to those groups.
See the Security Groups (Enterprise Licence Only) topic in the Admin Reference Guide for more information.
