Oasis montaj Integration with Seequent Evo

Oasis montaj and stand-alone Target seamlessly integrate with Seequent Evo, enabling direct connectivity to its Seequent Evo platform. This allows you to publish geoscience data from your current project to a Seequent Evo workspace and import geoscience data from any accessible Evo workspaces.

The following concepts are covered below:

Seequent Evo Workspaces

Seequent Evo workspaces provide a centralized, secure environment for uploading, managing, and sharing geoscience data across multidisciplinary teams. User access control is managed through assigned permissions, ensuring data security and streamlined collaboration.

Subsequent revisions, capturing specific points in time for your project, can be uploaded to the same Seequent Evo workspace. This ensures that data and modifications remain accessible within Seequent Evo and can be shared across Oasis montaj and other integrated applications.

The ability to securely store and organize data in a version-controlled, centralized environment—while also visualizing and sharing it with other Seequent applications—enhances collaboration. Data shared within Seequent Evo can be imported and worked on locally in Oasis montaj, creating a more integrated and dynamic workflow.

Connecting to Seequent Evo

Connection Status Icon

In Oasis montaj or stand-alone Target, ensure you are signed in and connected to the internet. The connection status icon, located in the top-right corner of the menu bar next to your username, indicates whether you are online   or offline   (e.g., when there is no connectivity to the licensing server).

Seequent Evo Icon

To connect to Seequent Evo and access its services, you must sign in with a Bentley account. Your user identity is managed through Bentley Connection Client. For setup details and requirements, refer to the Signing In to Oasis montaj 2025.1 and Bentley CONNECTION Client topics. Your subscription must include access entitlements for Seequent Evo.

Once permissions are granted, the Seequent Evo icon will appear in the top-right corner of the menu bar, next to the connection status icon, indicating its default (idle) state . Hovering over the icon displays: "Instance not selected".

If Oasis montaj automatically connects to a Seequent Evo instance, the icon updates to to indicate its active state. Hovering over the icon reveals the name of the instance, which remains connected as long as the server maintains connectivity and no other instance is selected.

If your organization has not assigned you to an instance on the Seequent Evo platform, or if the Seequent Evo icon is not displayed, contact your Account Representative to verify your Seequent Evo entitlements.

Seequent Evo Menu Options

Click the Evo icon to expand its menu options:

  • Seequent Evo Settings: Connect to a Seequent Evo Instance by selecting this option. Upon successful connection, the Evo icon updates to (or remains the same), indicating the connection status. Hovering over the icon displays the name of the connected instance.

If at any point the icon changes to and hovering over it displays "Connection to Seequent Evo service unavailable", follow these steps:

    • Check your internet connection, as it may be disrupted.

    • Reconnect to the Seequent Evo instance by opening the Seequent Evo Settings dialog and selecting your instance from the list.

  • Publish to Seequent Evo: Open the Publish to Seequent Evo dialog by selecting this option. You can also access it from the Project Explorer's Data tab via the context menu for applicable datasets.
  • Import from Seequent Evo: Open the Import from Seequent Evo dialog with this option. It is also accessible via the context menu in applicable nodes within the Project Explorer's Data tab.
  • Go to Seequent Evo: Open the Seequent Evo portal in a web browser. If you are not signed in, the evo.seequent.com/login page will appear. Click the LOGIN button in the top-right corner to sign in with your Bentley account.

  • For an introduction to Seequent Evo, refer to the Evo help.

Seequent Evo Services

Seequent Evo services are cloud-based APIs that enable access to and visualisation of specific geoscience data stored within Seequent Evo. Oasis montaj connects to the following Evo services:

Geoscience Object Service

The Geoscience Object API enables geoscience data access and utilisation across Seequent applications through a unified, structured format known as a Geoscience Object—a data structure representing a defined geological, geotechnical, or geophysical concept.

  • Publishing to Seequent Evo: Data is saved in a Geoscience Object format and uploaded to the selected workspace via the Geoscience Object API. You can access the Publish to Seequent Evo option from the Seequent Evo menu or via the context menu for applicable datasets in the Project Explorer's Data tab.

  • Importing from Seequent Evo: Geoscience objects stored in Seequent Evo can be imported into Oasis montaj projects through the Geoscience Object API. The Import from Seequent Evo option is available in the Seequent Evo menu and as a context menu for applicable Data nodes in the Project Explorer.

Geoscience objects are managed in Seequent Evo under the Geoscience Objects tab. For detailed information, refer to the Geoscience Objects topic in the Evo help.

Colormap Service

When publishing a grid or voxel dataset to Seequent Evo, the Colourmap API:

  • Generates a colourmap based on the dataset's colour display properties.

  • Links the colourmap to the geoscience object representing the dataset.

  • Publishes both the geoscience object and its colourmap to Seequent Evo.

  • Enables seamless integration between Oasis montaj and other Seequent applications, ensuring standardized colour representation across projects and enhancing geophysical data collaboration.

Example of sharing and visualising geophysical data:

  • In Oasis montaj, a grid dataset is published to Seequent Evo.

  • The dataset is uploaded as a geoscience object alongside its associated colourmap, which stores colour display properties (e.g., colour scheme, distribution).

  • A geologist colleague imports the geoscience object from Seequent Evo into their Leaprog instance, ensuring:

    • Colour display settings remain consistent across platforms.

    • No manual adjustments are required.

    • The data in Leaprog is visualized exactly as it appears in Oasis montaj, using the imported colourmap—eliminating the need to manually recreate colour settings.

Supported Colourmap Types

When publishing to or importing from Seequent Evo, the following colourmap types are supported:

  • Discrete: For grid or numeric voxel datasets, a discrete colourmap is generated, mapping ranges and colours to dataset values. Each colour corresponds to a specific value range or numeric interval.

  • Category: For thematic voxel datasets, a category colourmap is created and linked to the published geoscience object, mirroring its lithology classification codes and colours.
Thematic (lithology) voxels use rock code colours stored in a predefined lithology/rock code CSV file, which includes:
    • A “Code” field that matches the lithology classification of the geological data used in generating the voxel.
    • A “Colour” field defining numerical values assigned to each code.

When importing into Oasis montaj, the following colourmap type is also supported:

  • Continuous: Uses colour gradients stretched across a range of values. When importing a geoscience object with a continuous colourmap (where the colour of a cell is a function of the gradient controls), the colourmap is discretized using linear distribution and mapped to Oasis montaj's internal colourmap representation.
